What's Coming Up at Camp Barnhardt
With views of Badin Lake and the Uwharrie Mountains, Camp John J. Barnhardt is one of the most scenic Scout properties in the Southeast. The camp boasts a modern dining hall, a signature chapel, a swimming pool, and the highest climbing tower in the area. Campsites all have a large shelter, electicity, running water, and nearby access to private bathhouses. The property has numerous trails for mountain bikes and ATV’s as well as two lakes for boating and fishing. Camp Barnhardt’s facilities were even ranked #1 in the five state area. We hope that you’ll join us at Camp Barnhardt for a weekend of camping or an entire week of summer camp!
Our summer camp is known for its hands-on merit badge instruction and the area’s top program for first-year campers. Our activity sessions are all capped so the staff to camper ratio stays low and each Scout can get the individualized instruction they need when working on on badges like Rifle, Sailing, or Water Sports. We carefully craft our schedule so that Scouts have free time to swim with their friends, try climbing, take out a boat, or just relax in their campsite. We also choose a special theme each summer that guides a series of spirit challenges, the evening events, and troop competitions. In the past, we’ve ran Highland Games, Viking Voyage, and Colonial Barnhardt Camps! Our 2027 theme will be revealted on August 29th at the Program Release event. Click here to learn more
